BOOK REVIEW: Playing with Fire: Silver Dragons, Book 1 UNABRIDGED by Katie MacAlister

Playing with Fire

Book Review Silver Dragons Playing with Fire Katie MAcAlister
  • Overall
If you could sum up Playing with Fire in three words, what would they be?
Dragons, Fantasy, and Drama. (Technically that is 4 words, but it reads better that way)

Who was your favorite character and why?
The main character was intriguing. She falls in love with Gabriel Tauhou, a wyvern or type of dragon, that takes her on quite the adventure. She has special abilities and he's been waiting for her forever it seems. They get pretty steamy in the book, get it, steamy, you know because he is a wyvern. Anyway she's beautiful, smart, and a strong female lead.

What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I found this book because of Barbara Rosenblat. Barbara also narrates one of my other favorite series about a woman who goes on quite a few expeditions in Egypt. The other series is called the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters and it is by far one of my favorite reads or listens.

I love listening to Barbara Rosenblat. I have a thing for accents, British Books, fantasy novels, and comedic love tales with mysterious twists. So this book is pretty much right up my alley.

I prefer listening to stories because I can multitask. This is not one of the most captivating books I have ever heard but it is a nice series and I enjoyed going through it. It's a great time killer and right up my alley. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I've read and listened to thousands of books, so the standards are pretty high these days.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The first book in the Silver Dragons series isn't exactly inspirational, motivating, or emotionally moving. It's pretty fast paced, even the action/fight scenes are a bit rushed but the love scenes are heated.
